On 15 June 2021 the FAIMS3 Alpha prototype passed its first major development milestone: user-acceptance testing (UAT). The intention of this round of UAT was to explore, discuss and confirm accomplishment of the goals of Alpha phase of development:

To demonstrate the foundational capabilities of FAIMS3. Specifically, loading a module from a specification, data entry on all OSes, and asynchronous data exchange on an append-only datastore.

(For more information on the design approach for all phases of development see the FAIMS3 Elaboration Report.)

The UAT focussed on a number of tests for the creation, retrieval, update and deletion (CRUD) of data, on on multiple operating systems in online and offline environments.

The successful test demonstrates that we can deliver the core functionality of FAIMS: cross-platform, asynchronous data exchange on an append-only datastore.

This is the culmination of 11 weeks of intense work from our developers at Australian Astronomical Optics (AAO) and software engineers at CSIRO Mineral Resources.

End-to-end test demonstrations of Alpha on Android and web browser are on the FAIMS Project YouTube channel.
